I really want to be camping.
"in a tent" camping.

I welcome Autumn like a giddy lover, yet today I crave the swelter of June or July.

a late afternoon…the time when you’re tired from doing nothing but fish and swim
and wander the woods, lazy and peaceful.

Feeling clean
and washing your face makes it that much better, yet sweaty and dirtier than usual, since you’e been outside all day.

and, you’re thinking of dinner, but you’ve been eating all day,

and the sun isn’t its highest in the sky anymore…

and you start to light the campfire in earnest; no longer a smoking, dying thing.

the sun takes its time in allowing the night cricket sounds and skunks and branches breaking in the woods – beyond your flashlight’s beam.
